SYS-TEC Corporation Deploys Advanced Integrated Mobile Marking System for Legacy Part Identification to U.S. Navy
PETERSBURG, MI, September 15, 2008
SYS-TEC Corporation announced today it is poised to deploy their Integrated Mobile Marking System (IMMS), after the U.S. Navy awarded SYS-TEC a contract for a total of nine new units. The first unit is scheduled for delivery in October 2008.
The IMMS will be used to apply human and machine-readable part identification marks for Commercial and Department of Defense applications. Marking parts and updating the Navy SNT Program will give the user real-time product control and traceability for the life of the part.
The IMMS will allow the application of Unique Identification (UID) markings to parts and equipment in warehouses, depots, and maintenance facilities using a variety of different marking techniques. The system will verify mark quality and be capable of generating RFID or thermal transfer barcode tags.
"This new marking system is needed to break down the last major impediment to the government's UID program, which calls for the application of machine-readable markings to over 98,000,000 parts by year 2010," said Richard Perron, President of SYS-TEC Corporation.
A ruggedized touch-screen and hardened computer containing a user-friendly software package will drive the system. This software, combined with electronic data input, will enable operators to quickly and accurately identify proper marking techniques by part environment. The software also features pre-established marking parameters, user instructions, detailed training modules, and electronic links to applicable Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Information derived from this project will be shared with the other military branches and other government agencies supporting Homeland Security and National Defense.
